Ivolginski  datsan (monastery) is located on plentiful land of Ivolga valley, which has an ancient history, wonderful monuments of culture and nature. The monastery is famous far beyond the borders of Buryatia. Numerous guests from other countries and regions of Russia certainly want to visit it whilst staying in Ulan-Ude.

Nowadays Ivolginski datsan is a monastery complex and the residence of Russia's Buddhists Head whose title sounds like Pandito Hambo Lama. There is also a small greenhouse with the tree of Bodhi which grows all year round thanks to the care of lamas. One of Russia Buddhist shrines is also located here in the Itigel Hambyn Ordon - the Palace of Dashi-Dorzho Itigelov.
